The Whaletown Community Dock was formally divested (sold) by Transport Canada to Cortes Community Docks in 2007.  In 2024, an engineering survey indicated that the facility was in need of significant upgrades.  CCD staff and board members worked hard and managed to secure over $550,000 in grant funding to repair the facility to its previous state.  Construction began on the facility in September of 2025, and is expected to finish by the summer of 2026.
